I hope the beginning of 2019 has been good for you. This year is bringing me some new goals and focuses.
I have decided that I will be taking a lot less quilt commissions going forward and only working on quilts that have a personal meaning to either me or my client. I love making quilts for people, but my energy level and ability to sit and sew for hours on end is just not there anymore. Ever since my two thoracotomies, my nerves in my right side haven’t healed properly and the pain is too much. This doesn’t mean I won’t be making bereavement quilts and personal quilts, it just means a lot fewer per year will be made and truly only ones that have special meaning.
I have decided to start focusing on some smaller sewing projects, like the head-warmer/neck-warmer in the photos below. I make them out of my fabric designs printed on sports lycra, it is such a yummy fabric! These make great little gifts throughout the year. I will be posting them in my Etsy shop this coming week. If you see a fabric design of mine you like and you don’t see one of these made, just DM me and I will be happy to make you one or twenty!
I also have been heavily designing shibori patterns for use in my Society6 shop. Below are just a few newbies available on a ton of awesome products ( I own quite a few).
I will also be trying to focus my quilting to more baby/nursery quilts and small wallhangings in the future. I will be continuing to use my own designed and dyed fabrics in my pieces. Look for more this spring!
