Spring, A Good Time For New Beginnings

As most of you know by now, my website was hacked in January while I was on a 6 week trip out West.  Not fun, especially because I always would rather be dyeing fabric or sewing so I put off fixing the issues till now.  I apologize for the inconveniences it may have caused!

I have a new website I am currently tweaking the layout of now.  I have switched my store back to Etsy for the time being because I have found 90% of my business is commission based, so it is easier to just let Etsy do the work for me basically!

A lot has happened in the first few months of 2017!  To start I had 14 quilts and 4 table runners in an art show at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan for a month.  It was a great show and I really enjoyed being a part of it!  Below are a few photos from the show!

I was lucky enough to tag along on a photography trip to Telluride, Colorado, Moab, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah and Jackson, Wyoming this winter.  It was an incredible trip and I promise to post about it and show photographs because I was insanely inspired by it!

Thanks for being so patient with me! I  will be blogging more regularly and updating everyone on what I have been doing!

What A Busy End of The Year!

What an amazing year of sewing I have had!  I want to give a HUGE thanks to all of my family, friends, customers and social media friends for your love and support of my new business!

The last couple of months have been focused on Holiday Commissions and getting ready for a big show in January that I will have 14 quilts and 4 table runners in!

Once the holidays are over I can post an update with photos of those pieces, for now I wanted to share what my Instagram followers have made my “2016 best nine“.

I also wanted to let everyone know, the next three weeks my sewing machines will be getting repaired at the “sewing spa”.  In the middle of January I will start taking commissions for 2017!  Every quilt commission comes with a homemade hand-dyed duck canvas tote with leather straps as a THANK YOU for choosing to shop small and support my one-woman business!

Also, my online store will be CLOSED until January 11, 2017.  I will be out of town visiting family until then.  Once I return there will be new items added!

Thank you all again for making my first full year in business a success!

Bloggers Quilt Festival! Entry 1!

This is my first time entering quilts  into Amy Ellis’ Bloggers Quilt Festival.     I am really excited to be a part of this, especially because it forces me to blog more (which has been my weak spot, I won’t deny).  I have chosen to enter two quilts that I finished this year.  Both were designed, pieced and quilted by me.  I hope you like them!

My first entry is for the Scrappy Quilt Category.  My inspiration is Autumn, my absolute favorite time of year.  I used scraps of fabric used in a king size quilt I made this winter (photo in my gallery page).  All of the indigo fabric I hand dyed using traditional Japanese Shibori resist dye techniques.  The gold fabric is a dream with the indigo and quickly has become my favorite color combo!  I think this color combination screams Autumn, pumpkin patches, apple pie, cider, thank goodness Autumn is here!

Below is a little sneak peak into how I design and make a scrappy quilt.  I sew random pieces together, all scraps crom my scrap bin, then like a puzzle, I try and piece them together the best I can!  This quilt measures 17 x  23 1/2″.  It makes for a great wallhanging in any room.
