Spring, A Good Time For New Beginnings

As most of you know by now, my website was hacked in January while I was on a 6 week trip out West.  Not fun, especially because I always would rather be dyeing fabric or sewing so I put off fixing the issues till now.  I apologize for the inconveniences it may have caused!

I have a new website I am currently tweaking the layout of now.  I have switched my store back to Etsy for the time being because I have found 90% of my business is commission based, so it is easier to just let Etsy do the work for me basically!

A lot has happened in the first few months of 2017!  To start I had 14 quilts and 4 table runners in an art show at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan for a month.  It was a great show and I really enjoyed being a part of it!  Below are a few photos from the show!

I was lucky enough to tag along on a photography trip to Telluride, Colorado, Moab, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah and Jackson, Wyoming this winter.  It was an incredible trip and I promise to post about it and show photographs because I was insanely inspired by it!

Thanks for being so patient with me! I  will be blogging more regularly and updating everyone on what I have been doing!

Summer Season is Busy in the Studio!

I wanted to give a little beginning of summer season update.  My studio has been extremely busy, I started selling items at Spice Harbor in Harbor Springs, Michigan and have been trying to keep up with items geared towards summer folks and balance commissions as well as adding some updates to my etsy shop.

Below are some photographs of my recent finished products.  All of the below items are currently for sale.  If  you see something you are interested in please contact me at Kathrynmariedesignco@gmail.com.  I can also custom make State wallhangings for whatever state you live in or love!

Enjoy the photos!

Americana Table or Bed Runner, designed by me using kona cotton solids.  This runner is for sale, currently at Spice Harbor in Harbor Springs, MI.

This is just a sneak peak into my studio for the past couple weeks, I have sewn quite a bit more than I am showing, but I don’t want to overload my readers with photos.  More to come soon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to my website!

Kathryn Marie designs is my contribution to making life a little more beautiful.

I guess I should introduce myself,  I am a fashion designer by trade who grew up outside of Philadelphia.  I lived in the city for about 8 years then ventured down to south Florida and now reside in northern Michigan.  I have turned  my design focus from clothing (which I still continue to make and design) into modern quilts, home goods and fabric design.  I design from my studio loft in my log cabin.

I believe that a good creative workspace is a bit of a messy space.  I could clean my space and take a photograph, but then you wouldn’t get a feel for where my creative process actually takes place.

When I am not sewing, designing and dyeing fabric I am usually in the kitchen (my second favorite part of my cabin) baking.

So that is a little bit about me for now, I hope that you continue with me on my journey!
